Did you know that owls pant to cool off, and that they fly without making a sound?

Those are just two of the facts you’ll learn when you watch the latest edition of Ninety Seconds of Nature, a series of videos in which Camp Valaqua director Jon Olfert talks about the outdoors surrounding the camp.

“I came across something on my walk last night that’s too cool not to share,” Olfert says at the beginning of the video, which features four great grey owls.

Located one hour northwest of Calgary, Alta., Camp Valaqua is situated on the banks of Little Red Deer River. It is a ministry of Mennonite Church Alberta that offers summer camp programs for children ages 7 to 17 throughout July and August.

Ninety Seconds of Nature is a way for Olfert to engage the camp’s supporters year-round. Previous episodes have showcased tree burls, woodpeckers, moss and trembling aspens.

“I hope you’re safe, I hope you’re doing OK, and man, I hope I get to see you this summer,” Olfert concludes.
