Seeds Church in Altona, Man. has started a new podcast for hosts and guests to explore what it means to live lightly in relation to God’s creation.
The church had intended to do the interviews in-person on Sunday mornings for its Lenten series. But when COVID-19 hit, and congregants and leaders could no longer meet in person, they had to reimagine the series and decided to make it into a podcast.
The Living Lightly Podcast began airing on March 23 and has produced eight episodes so far.
Connie Heppner Mueller, a church member and chair of the Altona Community Action Network, and Ted and Darlene Enns-Dyck, co-pastors of Seeds Church, host the podcast. Each week, they speak with a different guest about what creation care looks like in the guest’s life and the learning, struggles and successes that come with that.
Guests have included Wendy Janzen, leader of Burning Bush Forest Church in Ontario; Terry Mierau, a professional opera singer turned organic farmer; Jennifer Halteman Schrock, leader of the Mennonite Creation Care Network; and many others from within the Seeds Church community and across Manitoba.
Although the podcast has been less active throughout the summer, Ted expects episodes will begin airing more regularly again in late summer or early fall.
